TV HELPED US FIND OUT FREEZING IS NOT NORMAL FOR SATELITTE SERVICE, January 31, 2011
By Robin Wolff "seekers find"
The blue ray remote has a problem of controling the tv and not the blueray alone. The upgrading to HD direct tv installer could not make the sound bar function with only the HDMI cables while the secound direct tv guy figured out how to. He also discovered Many problems left behind by the original Direct tv installers that caused MANY frozen images we thought was standard satelite reception. They left in the white cones used for cable on all the sets that should have been changed to the purple. And since it happened over 90 days these original installers were not even going to be corrected for doing this. They also left unused lines that were acting as false antennas causing freezing. SO IF YOU ARE NEW TO SATELITE TV AS WE WERE FREEZINGS ARE NOT NORMAL.THE 3D TV WORKS BETTER THEN THE FORMER 42 NONE 3D. THE SOUND SEEMS BETTER EVEN WHEN NOT USING THE SOUND BAR.

Plasma has its disadvantages, January 30, 2011
By Maxim Kachan
Plasma TV has its disadvantages-the black levels may be advertised as black, but with gray levels you can see dithering-a distribution of blinking color pixels to make half tones. Not noticeable when you are at normal TV viewing distance, though. I am satisfied with the TV/Blu-Ray/3D glasses combo, for the price offered at the time on Amazon, with instant rebate.

Nice TV, much better than my 5 year old Samsung Plasma, January 29, 2011

This TV has a great overall picture and nice 3D. The default settings are too dim for me, I use vivid mode for everthing including 3D. We have DirecTV so we are enjoying the X games and other shows in 3D.

Knowlageable One Happy Costumer, January 22, 2011

This is the best purchase I had in my life. I just fell in love with this TV. Before Christmas I was in Costco, they were displaying Sony, Samsung and Panasonic 3D TV's. I've tried all 3D TV's with 3D movie clips playing. For comparison Panasonic was my favorite, I made my mine decided to buy Panasonic. I checked Amazon.com they had the best package deal W/ DMP-BTD100 3D blue ray player & rechargeable 3D glasses W/ Avatar 3D movie. Thanks to Amazon.com delivery was smooth & timely, it was during the weekday. First day I hooked up to my exterior roof antenna, I was stunned with beautiful picture even with low resolution broadcasting TV channels, 720p & 1080p were superb. At the weekend I hooked up TV and 3D player to my home theater system. That was it, my first 3D TV experience with 3D Avatar movie, I almost tried to reach & grab the objects looks like flying in the room. My opinion 3D is real, not many 3D movies in the market but it's getting there I've seeing new oncoming movies are almost all on 3D. My suggestions if you are looking for 3D TV, Plasma 3D is the way to go & my favorite is Panasonic. By the way I purchase another 2 sets 3D glasses w/ 2 3D movies as bonus from Amazon.com, so whole family experience the same thrill.

It's the best buy that I did in the last Christmas.
The picture clarity, setup, Viera Cast working fine.
All the features that Amazon page describe are true.
I love this TV and I really recommend it.

Great TV and a great deal!, January 14, 2011

Really enjoying this TV after the first couple weeks. Picture quality is fantastic. I didn't buy the TV purposely for the 3D, but looked at it as an added bonus. The quality is good. I got the bundle deal with 3D BluRay player, 2 pairs of 3D glasses, and Avatar 3D BluRay. (The movie does look awesome on this TV.) Panasonic's website has suggested picture settings for watching the Avatar 3D, which I really liked and use all the time for the TV. The GAME picture setting looks good for playing X-Box as well.

The controls are easy enough to get a handle of. Some people griped about not having a quick 3D button to hit, but it's only 3 easy clicks away. Have used the VieraCast a little bit, and it works well. Hopefully, they will add more services soon. What I found strange was that there were a couple of VieraCast channels that the BluRay player shows that the TV does not. Vudu and CinemaNow. Maybe Panasonic will fix that soon.

Delivery and set-up went well. The shipper, CEVA, called me 2 days before Amazon's estimated delivery date and I was able to schedule the delivery for the day Amazon predicted. I asked for a 9am-1pm window, with the driver calling me 30 minutes before arrival. This allowed me to run home to meet them, rather than take the whole morning/day off of work. The called at 10am, and got to me right around 10:30am. Brought the TV upstairs, helped set it up on the stand, and confirmed it was working. Very friendly guys.

Quality here is great, and the price is fair. You'll pay close to the same for a 2D TV of this caliber. The bundle promotion ended, but keep an eye out to see if they do it again.

Easily the best TV I've ever owned. Beautiful picture and a match made in heaven when a PlayStation 3 is added to it via HDMI. I haven't bought the 3D glasses yet, but plan to in order to take advantage of all the 3D stuff available on the PS3.

I did have some issues with the picture settings at first, but once I put it on the "Custom" setting and messed around with everything, the picture looked perfect.
Just for reference, this worked for me:
Picture Mode: Custom
Contrast: +97
Brightness: +61
Color: +55
Tint: 0
Sharpness: +81
Color Temp: Normal
C.A.T.S.: Off
Gamma: 2.0

Everything else is optional.

First set had problems with but Amazon switched out with in days.12/20-shipped got 12/23 in the AM.Pilot the best.Heard all the complaints and I have to say what is the problem had to use them twice and no complaints. Now for the Tv best set yet have 40 LED Samsung now using that for pc monitor Pany pic is much better set up from tweaktv.com the Samsung is good but like the pic on Pany better. And the 3D got me when watching Avatar started swating at bugs then had a DUH moment because they were not in the room. Also playing Avatar on PS3 in 3D you have to watch those branches do not hit you in your face when running (try and play without ducking). All in all very good tv very good service (Amazon and Pilot) and better if you get the bundle like I did.And the glasses are not bad at all I wear them over glasses no problem

Very happy with this TV, January 3, 2011

I've had the VIERA TC-P42GT25 for about a week now and so far I'm really happy with it.

This TV was very easy to set up. Placing it on the stand was easy. The stand's footprint is small, so I was easily able to find a spot to place it.

The out of the box settings for the picture weren't so great. The picture looked dark and grayish. Luckily, Panasonic has included a wide range of elements to tweak to get the picture to look exactly how the user wants it to look. Panasonic also includes a definition of each picture setting, so non-experts know what each setting does. I was able to customize the picture so it looks great to me. For people who don't like to do much tweaking, there are several presets such as THX, Vivid, and Game. However, I wasn't happy with any of the presets.

You can tweak the image for each component. For my Wii, I upped the contrast and made the picture quite vivid. For my PS3, I made the picture brighter, but toned down the contrast. The TV remembers the settings for each component, so you don't have to change the settings every time you switch to a different component.

I wasn't quite sure how well this TV would be able to handle gaming devices, but I am quite pleased with it so far. Wii games look great even though the Wii is only capable of doing either 480i or 480p. I have a cable that lets me get 480p from the Wii and games look bright and colorful without any dullness or the appearance of stretching. Of course, games look great on the PS3 too, but the PS3 was designed to handle up to 1080p.

I haven't tried watching a blu-ray movie on this TV yet, but standard DVDs look nice. I'm not a huge movie fan, but to my eyes this TV and the PS3 do a fantastic job displaying regular DVDs.

I have Comcast and HD programming looks great on this TV. Again, you the out of box settings are disappointing, but after tweaking it, the image looks great.

I haven't tried the 3D mode yet since I don't have the glasses. I might spring for the glasses in the future. I bought this TV primarily because of the good reviews regarding its 2D image. Also, it will be nice to have an option to watch movies in 3D later if I so choose. Considering this TV costs about the same as a non-3D plasma, I felt like I couldn't go wrong.

This is my 3rd Panasonic HD TV and I'm very happy with it. I have a 5-year-old Panasonic plasma and a 3-year-old Panasonic LCD that are still going strong. I hope to have such luck with the VIERA TC-P42GT25.

I recommend this TV to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced plasma TV. The picture is stunning once you've tweaked the settings.
